Heckmondwike Investigation
Saturday 16th September 2006, approximately
19.30hrs we arrived at this location.
Investigators Present: Dawn, Russ, Graham, Joan, and the two
residents of this property.
Property Brief
The property is on three floors and is quite large and roaming,
with rooms going off here and there. Because the house was
originally a lot bigger and has been made into separate
residences, the house seemed disjointed in its room plans etc.
The property was once used as a place of work, in bygone years,
and was involved in making what would have been at one time of
the day, a useful commodity.
The family have been living at this residence about 5 years now,
and have reported to us that the building feels “negative” and
has a “bad feel”, there has also been sightings of “something”
seen in a few of the rooms and an atmosphere & tension has
existed since they moved in.
There has been renovations done to the property since this
family moved in and without going into any detail as such, some
human remains were found hidden, which were removed by the
authorities, at the time.

(On arriving at the property, the owner told us that all the
lights had blown, just as we arrived outside the house!).
We had not been in the property long before Graham; our group’s
medium was off on his walk round. The first port of call is,
what is now, a downstairs bedroom, just off from the kitchen
area in a small hallway that leads up to the first floor. Graham
reported straight away, an energy in the room right over the
single bed that was between us. The emf meter recorded nothing
of significance and the laser thermometer registered 20.4
degrees C. The hygrometer read that there was 66% humidity in
this room.
From there we turned right, and headed up to the first floor
level, and into the bathroom, which was right at the top of this
flight of stairs, Graham instantly picked up on someone in
spirit called Arthur, who he describes as dressed in 1900’s type
clothing. He sensed no animosity from this spirit. Again the emf
registered nothing of great detail. Again the humidity was 66%.
We moved out of the bathroom and back down a couple of stairs,
and off to the right, in to what is the main lounge area. We all
commented on the chill in the air, but laser readings indicated
it was, in fact 20 degrees C!, with 61% humidity. There was a
definite heavy feel and it felt clammy. Graham said he picked
nothing of note up in this area so we walked to the left hand
corner of the lounge area and through a doorway which leads to
another staircase which goes up the top floor. Graham sensed
someone straight away on the top landing, and said that this man
was there very often, and had a negative feel to him, the owners
of the property confirmed that this was where most of the
negative feel was emanating from, and that people had actually
seen this man out of the corner of their eye, as he flashed by
them.
We all walked up this last flight and the landing turned left
and into two bedrooms, one smaller than the other. The smallest
drew Graham there, and he said that the man he had sensed was in
this room a lot of the time... The temperature was steady at 20
dc. The room (smallest) had a very heavy feel to it, and Graham
felt a pain across his chest at this point, and a burning
sensation. I asked Graham what he could tell us about the age of
the man, and he said he would be in his early 40’s.
We moved into the main bedroom, and everyone concurred how airy
and not oppressive this felt. Graham said he felt nothing in
that room; we had a 59% humidity level and 22 dc on the laser
thermometer. Again nothing of any note was seen on the emf
meter.
From there we walked back on to the landing, where Graham once
again felt the energy of this man(spirit), he was beginning to
feel this man had fallen down these stairs and that was where he
felt this man had lost his life. The name Alan Crowther came
into Graham’s head and the date of 1940’s... Again we had 60%
humidity, 20dc (temp). Graham did feel that this spirit was in
residence.
From there we headed back down this flight of stairs, and Graham
mentioned that he was picking up the presence of a border collie
dog!, at the bottom of the stairway, he was heading back towards
the bathroom, once more being drawn to this “Arthur”.. But this
time, Graham used a divination technique with his pendulum to
ask “yes and no” questions. He wanted to establish what Arthur
wanted and weather he wanted to be moved over into the spirit
realms. During the divination, Graham told us that Arthur quite
liked it here, and liked the family, but that he was ready to
move over. He made mention that he had died in 1903. Graham said
a few words and asked for Arthur to move to the light.
We all decided we could do with some refreshment and a coffee as
this had been quite a tiring and draining night so far, and we
headed back down to the ground floor level and the kitchen! On
our way down the last flight of stairs Graham felt he had been
pushed on the stairs! We all sat down in the kitchen and re
capped on things so far.
From our break, we then headed back into the ground floor
bedroom, where Graham promptly took himself off and into a walk
in cubby hole and shut the door. He was gone about 10 minutes
before he came out and told up about this chap in a leather
apron, with a fag handing from the side of his mouth, he also
was wearing a flat cap. The owners commented on how often they
had smelled tobacco in that area to the point they though one of
the family had been smoking in that area! Graham said that this
spirit also walked out of the room and in to the kitchen area,
and again the owners said that other people who had visited
their house had seen the figure of “someone” walking though! And
on occasion, the owners had reported seeing this too.
We had decided (after conversations with the owners) really
before we arrived at the house that this negative spirit on the
top floor had to be moved over, the owners of the house were
really at the end of their tether, and it was decided he must
go... so our next port of call, and our last port of call was
going to be up there, to move over this negative spirit… quite
what transpired next was very odd indeed.
On arriving on the top floor the owners said they felt that he
was there! They had seen this man, just flashes, and feelings,
but they felt he was there now as we stood. Graham commented
that his neck was burning up (his left hand side), and again
Graham used his pendulum to ask “yes and no” questions to this
seemingly troubled spirit.
He asked this man (Alan) whether he was happy at us being there…
no was the answer.
He asked whether Alan liked the family being there. No was the
answer...
Graham asked whether Alan liked **** (wife) and the answer was
NO!
(**** had said she felt a lot of the negativity was aimed at
her). Graham then asked whether it was in fact women he didn’t
like and the answer was NO, he didn’t like women!
***** then asked whether it was (Alan) that was making her feel
angry at times in the house and YES he confirmed he was
affecting her in that way!
Graham then asked “Alan” whether just wanted to scare people but
not hurt them, and he confirmed he did like doing this…
Graham asked “Alan” whether he wanted to leave, and the answer
was NO, he didn’t.
In the rest of this conversation it was discovered that he
didn’t like the kids particularly (owner’s kids) and also scared
them! He also revealed he didn’t realise he was in fact
deceased!
He said also that he was not married but lived with his parents
and that his mother had beaten him and also had lead to the
death of his younger brother (Jimmy), whom was also resident in
the house!
The owners concurred that their youngest child had made mention
of this “friend” (male) that she played with.
Alan’s mother was called Annie, and that **** (wife) reminded
him, of her, and that is why he didn’t like her!
Graham asked Alan whether he would be prepared to go over to the
light with his young brother (Jimmy) and to that, he said yes.
He also said that the owners of the house had knocked through
(opened up) an area where his younger brother had died and he
was not happy about that also. The owners asked Graham to ask
Alan whether there were any more spirits in the house other than
what had been discovered so far, and his answer was NO.
To that end Graham drew proceedings to a close and moved the two
brothers over into the light.
Once again we all felt very very drained and headed to the
kitchen for a well earned coffee break!
During the nights proceedings, the lady of the house used
Grahams pendulum to ask and receive questions and answers, which
we all found quite confounding and intriguing, we realised that
***** was very open spiritually and she was able to pick up on
the spirits Graham had mentioned and confirmed what Graham had
said is what she had also been picking up!
It had been a fantastic night, and hopefully now, it is cleared,
the troubled energies that have seemed to blight this family,
have gone.
